New-media distribution systems, Philadelphia-style

When I delivered newspapers as a youngster, the newspaper delivery truck to throw out bundles of papers--just as in your photograph--at the curb, all waiting for me to do my magic (folding, bagging, and tossing into front yards).

South Philadelphia is a bastion of handbills and printed circulars. Sometimes, though, I suspect that the bundles get dumped rather than delivered. This is especially noticeable on rainy or windy days.

Not this time, though. The piles were gone the next day.
