Wish I could be there - I loved The Wheelman. This is an interesting departure for DBB. You'll have to tell us all about it.

Very well done at this new venture for Detectives Beyond Borders. Naturally I looked up the menu at the Tritonebar and noticed the deep fried candy bar and fried pickles!
Only in America and Scotland!

Barbara, the board of directors here at Detectives Beyond Borders decided that this was the right time for such a venture. It grew out of NoirCon, and the suggestion for readings came from a guy I know who tends bar and does some booking at the Tritone. And yes, I'll keep you posted, especially if it goes well.

Thanks, Uriah. You've done more exploring of the menu than I have. I never noticed those weird items. I like the Tritone's mahi-mahi on a bun an the french fries with garlic mayonnaise.

Mahi-mahi on a bun? In Philadelphia?

Gee, that must be frozen for transport.

Well, they say it's mahi-mahi. In any case, it tastes good. But I have seen mahi-mahi on numerous menus in this part of the world.

Huh. I thought they were strictly Pacific Ocean fish, but Wikipedia tells me otherwise:

"Mahi-mahi can be found in the Caribbean Sea, on the west coast of North and South America, and Southeast Asia as well as many other places worldwide. The United States and the Caribbean countries are the primary consumers"

Okay, then I retract my disbelief. I trust Wikipedia with my life. ;)

Well, now you know that mahi-mahi are also to be found in that liminal space that is South Street, Philadelphia.

This sounds great! Too bad it is too far from me. I wish you great success and will wait for a report on the evening.

When you do visit, you'll know you can get some mahi-mahi. The city also has one "Hawaiian fusion" restaurant, so perhaps it's a mahi-mahi paradise.

And you shall receive a report, especially if the event goes well.

I have just had mahi-mahi washed down with cider at the Tritone. I suppose I could find some way to write off the cost of the fish on next year's tax return, since I was at the bar to drop off flyers for Noir at the Bar.
